Dr. Ruggiano is truly gifted and passionate about what she does. I am leaving my academic position and she helped me to convert my CV to a resume. She took the time to speak to me in great length about what my goals are after academia. She skillfully condensed my CV into a resume which highlighted all of my accomplishments. Dr. Ruggiano even thought of other job positions that may be a good fit that I had not even contemplated. She is professional yet kind and truly wants the best outcome for you and it shows in how she engages you personally and produces the final product. She leaves you feeling supported and excited about what lies ahead in one's career.

The #PhDLife is full of the unknown. There is so many moving parts beyond just the dissertation. Luckily, I had great mentors and colleagues to look to for advice. Nicole Ruggiano is one of those people. To all my friends on the academic grind, feel free to check out her new page Academic Career Clinic! This is a great forum for advice, open to graduate students and junior faculty!

Dr. R was invaluable to the academic job application process. Her feedback on my CV and cover letter, genuine care and concern, and down to earth discussions of academia greatly assisted me in securing a post-doctoral position.

Nicole has been very helpful to me in developing a strategy for tenure and helping me navigate my first few years as a faculty member. She provided me guidance on all aspects of academic career: research, teaching, and services. She provided me a realistic overview of tenure expectations, and guided me to manage my time wisely in both long term and short term. She showed me examples how to write for both grant proposals and publications.  She also shared with me strategies to effectively work with doctoral students in research and publications. Most importantly, Nicole tailored her advice based on my experiences and needs. With her advice, as a 4th year assistant professor, I currently have two PI grants from state and local sources, one CO-I state grant, and 20 journal articles.

I would highly recommend Nicole Ruggiano as a Consultant if you're seeking an academic position.  Like others, I was creating the requisite documents for universities and colleges, but was not sure how to "stand out" from the other very qualified candidates.  To assist me, Nicole did four major things which enhanced all aspects of my application materials:

(1) she thoroughly assessed what I needed in a supportive and thoughtful way;

(2) she then extensively rewrote my existing cover letter so it sounded more succinct, efficient, and highlighted important details of my background and work history (versus my "too humble" approach);

(3) she educated me about her process and rationale for each suggested change, which is helpful for me to think about for other types of applications in the future (i.e., competitive grants); and

(4) she reorganized my time-line formatted curriculum vitae in to larger sections of Research, Education, and Clinical Experience, resulting in a much more clear presentation of my work history for the faculty search committees.

I was astounded and thrilled at how much better my same application materials looked after her revisions.  As a result, I felt far more prepared to apply for academic positions after consulting with Nicole and experiencing her "magic" as she took what I thought was good enough and morphed the same content into Fabulous!  No, really... she is amazing!

Lori Daniels, PhD, Hawaii Pacific University

When I was on the job market, I was looking for both academic and non-academic jobs. Nicole did a great job at identifying how my clinical and administrative experiences and skills translated to academia. I was much more confident with the academic CV and cover letter she helped me create, and I believe that they helped me get the interview I wanted at the university I was interested in. In the end, I took a clinical position, but if I decided to go back to academia, I know how to craft a more competitive CV and cover letter, thanks to the strategies that Nicole explained to me.
